We went to visit Društvo Multiple Skleroze, a Multiple Sclerosis Society in Split. This association was founded in 1991 and it aims to offer help and rehabilitation to those suffering with MS and to improve research and treatment. When we went to the association we were informed about the disease and were shown some of the actions that the association takes.
The association is funded by various donors – mainly Ministries, Split Dalmatia County and City of Split.
They organise group medical gymnastics which is very important because it can help to alleviate some of the symptoms of the disease. Doctors, college professors and other experts also attend and give educational lectures on developments in research for the disease and it’s very helpful to those that are suffering. Every year they organise a walk through Split on the 28 th of May. Everyone wears orange MS t-shirts and its aim is to raise awareness for the disease.
